Talk title: Things You Should Know about Immersive Game UI
Back in the day, a game's user interface (UI) was sometimes added at the end, almost as an afterthought. Those days are long gone and UI design is becoming an increasingly central part of modern videogame creation. In fact, things have gotten to a point where there isn't necessarily a line between game design and UI design! Drawing from his experience in AAA game development, Jinghui Dong will challenge us to rethink game UI, discuss its role in creating immersive user experience and conclude with advice on how you can create immersive game UI for your own game projects.
Jinghui Dong is a UI engineer at Activision . After he graduated from EAE from the University of Utah in 2015, he joined Activision and developed the mobile game Skylanders Battlecast. In 2016, he moved to bay area and joined Sledgehammer Games. Since then, he has focused on video game UI development, including shipping AAA quality UI features, worked with UX/UI designers to create the best experience in user interaction, and explored the possibilities and changes that video game UI can bring into the industry. As a UI engineer, Jinghui Dong worked on Call of Duty: WWII. The most recent game he has been working on is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which just released last year.
